Cleveland Browns how bad will they be in '09?

Print Article

This offseason has see the Cleveland Browns make a ton of changes in hopes of turning around a really disappointing 2008. A new coaching staff, front office and a few key trades have the loyal fanbase hoping for some more wins.

Today Sports Handicapper Craig Trapp will give you his preview and predictions of the '09 Browns team.

Offensively the Browns are hoping that getting rid of malcontent Winslow that the unit will become more of a cohesive unit. Coach Mangini has not decided on a starting QB but most think that Brady Quinn will come out of camp with the job. Either way the position is not one of strength as both QB's have been average at best. Stallworth will be a no show this year because of legal troubles and with only one other proven WR drop happy Edwards they might be in trouble. Offensive line is very good but with average skilled position players this team will struggle with consistently scoring points in a very tough division.

If this team is going to win the defense will have to carry them. But with one of the worst run defenses and a below average secondary not sure they can even slow down an average college team. Turnovers will be key for this defense as they have less talent than almost every team in the league. Only Shaun Rogers is a player that could start on any good team in the NFL.

Browns fans were thinking they had hit rock bottom last year but this team is a few years away from being able to compete with one of the best divisions in football! If this team gets as many wins as they had last year there coaching staff should be put in the hall of fame. Craig's prediction 2-14
