Craig's NBA Rookie of Year Prevew 2009-2010

By: CTS Guest Capper     Date: Jun 26, 2009
Print Article

Now that the 2009 NBA Draft is finished we can now look ahead to these drafted players and predict there success in the rookie season. Sports Handicapper Craig Trapp really likes the top 4 of his rookie of the year candidates. Any of the top three really have a good chance to take home the Rookie of Year award.

1. Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors): The best offensive player in the draft going to a scorer friendly offense is a lock that he will perform well. Curry's scoring ability will put him around 18-20 pts per game. Usually the rookie that averages the most points wins the Rookie of Year award so would be surprised if he does not win.

2. Blake Griffin (LA Clippers):Blake will be a double double machine in the NBA throughout his career. But as of right now the Clippers have a ton of bigs so his playing time will be affected. Still needing to develop a back to the basket game he will struggle to score in the half court. The most well rounded rookie without a doubt but since he will most likely only average 10-12 pts per game would be hard to beat out Curry.

3. James Harden (Oklahoma City Thunder): Harden is a throwback player with a great all around game. Going to a very young team might hurt his chance to win this years Rookie of Year. But with his very good defense, rebounding and scoring would be surprised if he is not in top 3 of ROY voting.

4. Ricky Rubio (Minnesota Timberwolves):Might be the worst team in the league next year with an extremely young team. Rubio is a pass first point guard with a limited offensive game. Hopefully they will hire a coach that plays an up and down style. If the style fits Rubio's open court game he will average double digit assists guaranteed. Rubio will be very similar to Jason Kidd type game or a taller Steve Nash. Would be a better ROY candidate if this team was not going to be so bad!!

Can't wait for next years NBA season. This rookie class has some really good players and all of these will be starters for most of the season. Also think that Rubio and Curry could both be super stars in a few years.
