As the preseason schedule begins no conference has more questions that the NFC east. The Cowboys have gotten rid of several malcontents, the Redskins have broke the bank on defensive line Haynesworth, the Eagles have added depth at running back and offensive line, and the NY Giants are looking for a replacement for Plaxico. Today Sports Handicapper Craig Trapp will give you his free predictions of the NFC EAST.
NY Giants (11-5): A very good defense and a top three offensive line should keep the Giants at the top of the NFC east this year. The one worry has to be how do they score on big plays without Buress. Manning has signed an extension that makes him the top paid player in the league but he still has questions when it comes to his surrounding skilled position cast. The running game and defense will have to carry this team just as they did last year if they want to get back to the playoffs.
Philadelphia Eagles (10-6): No team has done more to help there offense in the offseason than Philly. Donovan will have weapons all over the field and if they stay healthy this team will be a top 5 offense in the NFL. Defense might be a little shaky but with the good offense they don't have to be great just average will get this team double digit wins.
Dallas Cowboys (8-8): Dallas fans better start preparing for an ugly year as this team is not as talented as they were the last few years. This teams was horrible on road last year and think it will haunt them again this year. The running game should be very good this year and maybe if they make a commitment to it they could win a few more games. But this team identity seems to be passing but the weapons just are not there. Jerry Jones will most likely make midseason changes as Wade Phillips will struggle to stay 500.
Washington Redskins (6-10): Daniel Snyder has made a huge splash in free agency fixing the defensive line with Albert Haynesworth. The defense will be very solid this year but not sure they are a top 10 defense yet. The offense will struggle with Campbell at the helm as he just is not an accurate passer. The running game will also struggle without the threat of the pass. Snyder patience is not very long and could definitely see a coaching change midseason.
The Eagles and Giants will be battling for the NFC East crown and Dallas and the loser will most likely get the the wildcard. What was one of the best conferences last year will be down this year as both the Cowboys and Skins struggling this season.
