Sam's Free Sports Pick 6/16/9: NYM @ BAL

By: CTS Guest Capper     Date: Jun 16, 2009
Print Article

Today's Guest Handicapper is Sam from www.SportsChatPlace.com!! Sam is one of the top writers for his site and has been on fire lately in all sports. Today he loves the interleague matchup between the New York Mets at Baltimore Orioles!!

The New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles open up a 3 game interleague series at Camden Yards today. The Mets are coming off a 3 game series against cross-town rival New York Yankees that saw them lose 2 and win 1. In the last game the Mets got throttled by the Yankees 15-0. The Mets are sending towering RHP Mike Pelfrey to the mound today. Pelfrey has been at best inconsistent to date with a 4-2 record after 9 starts to date. He has a decent 4.68 ERA, and is 2-2 in his last starts.

The Orioles will send Jeremy Guthrie to the mound, the RHP is 4-6 currently with a dismal 5.52 ERA. Guthrie has been downright terrible in his last 3 starts, as Guthrie is 0-3 in his last 3 starts. Guthrie was not able to get out of the 1st inning in his 2nd to last start against the A's giving up 7 hits and 6 ER's.

Today I'm jumping all over the Mets, as I anticipate that personal pride will motivate the Mets to avenge the embarassing route they took at the hands of the Yankees in their last game. Pitching wise I like Big Pelf and his 98MPH fastball, against the King of Home Runs Allowed, as Jeremy Guthrie leads the Majors in this embarassing category.

SAM's Free Sports Pick: NY METS+105
