Today we have two free sports picks from Phil our guest Sports Handicappers have been doing really well lately so make sure you don't miss this one. Phil has been doing very well with the free selections winning both of the last two days. Today both of the Free Sports Plays are 4 star MLB plays for Friday!
OVER 8.5 Cincinnati Reds/New York Mets: The All Star break can’t come soon enough for the Mets or for Reds starter Bronson Arroyo. New York is in the midst of a horrible slump and Arroyo has been downright awful for the past month. Arroyo (8-8, 5.85) is suffering through one of the worst periods of his career, as he is 1-4 with a 8.42 ERA in his last 5 starts. He’s allowed a ridiculous 21 home runs this year in 103 innings pitched. He is 5-2 lifetime against the Mets, but the way he’s been pitching, I wouldn’t expect a great effort right now. Mets rookie Fernando Nieve (3-2, 2.73) started off the season on fire, but has regressed a little in his last two efforts. He’s allowed 7 runs on 17 hits in his last 9 innings pitched. He’ll look to get back on track tonight against a very good Reds offense. We definitely see this one going way over the 8.5 total.
OVER 9.5 Atlanta Braves/Colorado Rockies: Two hot teams headed into the All Star break look to finish off the first half on a winning note with the Braves visiting Coors Field and the Rockies. Derek Lowe will take on Ubaldo Jimenez in game 2 of the series. Colorado took game 1 last night 7-6. Derek Lowe (7-7, 4.56) is very lucky he pitched so well in April and May, because he has been terrible since then. He’s 0-4 with a 8.61 ERA in his last 5 starts, allowing 43 hits in just 23 innings. I don’t know if he’s simply lost it, or is battling an injury, but he better get it figured out quick if the Braves expect to contend in the second half. Jimenez (6-8, 3.86) has had a very good year and looks to be legit as the Rockies will remain serious wild card contenders in the second half. He’s allowed 10 runs in his last 19 innings of work, including getting roughed up a little in two of his last three starts, so he may benefit from the break as well. Look for a fairly high scoring game tonight at Coors Field.
