#865 VANDERBILT (-) over Georgia at 9:50 PM EST
Vanderbilt can't be happy with the way the regular season ended. The Commodores (-10) hosted South Carolina on Senior Night and got rocked 77-73! That blemish places the 'Dores in an automatic "play on" situation. Since 1991, Vandy is a profitable 18-5-1 ATS in its last 24 games provided it enters off a straight up loss as a favorite and its opponent checks in with momentum off a straight up win. The Commodores actually improve to a stellar 16-2 ATS in this set provided their foe arrives off a blowout victory of seven points or more.
It certainly won't be hard for Vandy to remain focused for this SEC affair either. The 'Dores faced the Dawgs twice this season and struggled both times. At Georgia, Vanderbilt (-4') got blasted 72-58 and, in their own backyard, the Commodores (-12) slipped past UGA by a bucket 96-94! Fortunately, Vandy's performance in their last game will have them champing at the bit to get back on track.
There is a strong system that supports this Vanderbilt investment too. Since 1990, favorites priced at -5 or more in the Quarterfinals of a conference tournament are a reliable 34-11 ATS provided they are seeded at No. 5 or less, enter off a straight up loss as a favorite and are battling an opponent that holds a won/loss percentage less than .500. It should be noted that No. 2 seeds have done extremely well in this setting posting a perfect 19-0 SU and 17-2 ATS record!
If you're going to fade Georgia, the time to do it is after the Bulldogs pull off an upset. Since the 1990-91 season, the Dawgs are a dismal 8-24 SU and 11-20-1 ATS as a pup coming off a straight up underdog win including a dismal 0-9 SU and 1-8 ATS in their last nine matched up against a foe that checks in off a straight up loss.
SEC teams coming off an upset win in the Opening Round or "Donkey Round" of the tournament are just 1-13 SU and 5-9 ATS in the Quarterfinals. The Commodores got smashed by the Crimson Tide in their first SEC Tournament game last year. Rest assured, the 'Dores will be around a lot longer this season. Take Vanderbilt. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.

#848 MICHIGAN ST (-) over Minnesota at 8:55 PM EST
Minnesota can't be happy about seeing Michigan State in the Big 10 Tournament. The Golden Gophers are 0-8 SU and 1-7 ATS in their last eight meetings against the Spartans and they obviously struggle in this series. It won't help Minny either that Big 10 favorites in the Quarterfinals hold a powerful 7-1 ATS record provided they're matched up against a foe that enters off back-to-back SU and ATS wins.
The Gophers enter this contest off a pair of blowout victories over Iowa and Penn St. Minnesota beat the Hawkeyes by 35 points and the Nittany Lions by 21 points. Unfortunately, the Golden Gophers have folded when matched up against an opponent that enters with momentum their own off a straight up win of 10 points or more posting a dismal 67-101 ATS record including a dismal 35-61 ATS in this role in Big 10 play!
In post season play matched up against a foe that arrives off a SU and ATS win, State has been lights out posting a tremendous 30-13 SU and 31-11-1 ATS record including 19-3-1 ATS in this role checking in off a blowout victory of 10 points or more. The Spartans made it all the way to the NCAA Championship Game last season and they know how to crank things up a notch in March. Lay the lumber here men. Take Michigan State. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.

#868 KANSAS ST (-) over Baylor at 9:30 PM EST
Off five consecutive wins over Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas (twice), this is going to be a tough encore for Baylor. The Bears dropped a hard-fought 76-74 battle to Kansas State at home back on January 26th and they'll be out for revenge. That's not going to happen.
According to my college basketball database, conference tournament teams in the semifinal round that are seeded from No. 1 to No. 5 are a dismal 8-31 ATS provided they enter with momentum off back-to-back SU and ATS wins and take the floor with same season single revenge. The knee-jerk reaction would be to side with these teams in a payback mode especially with all of that momentum. However, that's exactly what you don't want to do!
Kansas State got embarrassed in its regular season finale. The Wildcats (-15) lost outright at home to Iowa State 85-82. KSU rebounded nicely yesterday by smashing a solid Oklahoma State team 83-64. In order for State to have any shot at a possible double-revenge matchup against Kansas in the Big 12 final, the Cats know they must take care of business here.
In the Big 12 tourney, favorites in the semifinal round have been a solid investment posting a strong 14-3 SU and 12-5 ATS record. That certainly helps K State cause. So does the fact that the Wildcats have cashed 14 of their last 18 priced as chalk. Baylor is playing solid basketball right now. That fact is noted. However, on this night, the Purple Cats will be better. Take Kansas State. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.

NFL Late Season Bad Encore

Dec 12, 2009 |
The last four games of the NFL regular season can mean everything to those teams still in the playoff hunt and nothing to the others that have already been eliminated. Novice handicappers could experience a great deal of financial stress at this time of the year. The Las Vegas line is usually inflated on those squads still battling for playoff position. If you invest your hard earned dough on "b ...

50 is the Magic Number - By Tom Stryker
Over the years, I’ve come across a ton of scoring angles. Some are good, some aren’t. The one I’m about to break down for you is one of my best.
It’s simplistic in approach. All I wanted to see was how well a reasonably priced home favorite did after a solid offensive performance on foreign soil. As you know, momentum is huge when it comes to handic ...
