10* Over Mets/Yankees (7:05 ET): Having won four of five, the Mets actually bring some momentum into this series at Yankee Stadium. They've scored at least five runs in each of those last four wins and it was a 6-1 win Sunday over Colorado. Now they'll get a designated hitter added to the lineup (AL park), which should have them feeling pretty good about their chances offensively in this one. They're also probably feeling pretty good about who their sending to the mound as Jason Vargas went the distance his last time out in a complete game shutout.

But despite a recent rash of strong efforts, there's reason to believe the Mets shouldn't be so confident in Vargas here. First off, his numbers on the road leave a lot to be desired. He has a 4.87 ERA and 1.524 WHIP in five previous starts away from home and this one comes against a much more challenging lineup than he's used to facing. The Yankees are certainly a lot stronger than the Giants, the team Vargas blanked his last time out. The Yanks average 5.4 runs per game on the season, which is tied for 5th in all of baseball. The only NL team that averages more rpg is Colorado, who obviously benefits from playing in Coors Field on a regular basis.

The Yankees needed a win yday to avoid a sweep in Cleveland and they got it, 7-6 in 10 innings. Despite going extras, it was a game New York looked to have sewn up multiple times. They had a 5-0 lead early and also gave up the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth off a Didi Gregorious' error. Over the L8 games, the Yankees are giving up 6.0 rpg and today's starter (Masahiro Tanaka) hasn't exactly pitched well of late. He's allowed a total of nine runs in his previous two starts. The Yankees have gone Over in six straight IL games vs. teams w/ losing records. Make it seven. 10* Over Mets/Yankees
